I saw this article from The Independent and thought it might be of interest to you.
Beleaguered and defeated MP and former Home Secretary (i.e. Minister of Interior Affairs) Jacqui Smith writes a letter to Conservative MP and her replacement at the Home Office, Theresa May, on the challenges that await on this job. Some of them include tackling crime, including how communities are essential in combating it, police matters, and immigration. It is also a warning that much of the policies implemented - good and bad - will be inevitably judged in terms of her gender. Click on the link below.
Both the letter and David Cameron's inaugural speech in Front of 10 Downing Street's door paying hommage to former Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown are testimony that there is still some semblance of civility in politics. The British may yet give us some lessons in it.
